There is a young Muslim man who went with me to the farming training in early September. After the training I asked him what he had learned and he said, “God comes first in everything”. I have since heard he has been accused of getting a girl pregnant and is hiding in a different area of town. He is living with a Christian man and has now become open to the gospel! Pray he continues to seek Jesus! And pray he does what is right for the girl.
New study
Yusuf and I will be starting a new discipleship study this week. Pray he will grow through it and that I will be able to finish it with him before I leave the country next spring.
Like Nicodemus
Please pray for my friend Iddy, he has been my good friend and I have been sharing with him for a long time. Yesterday at around 8pm he came to our house to visit me, he didn’t want to come during day time so that he wouldn’t be seen. His heart is now wanting JESUS but the big problem is how he will be viewed by his wife, children, and his community. I know our LORD is bigger than what he sees, we need to pray for his soul.
Look at Jesus differently
Bobby and 4 other men attended a Farming God’s Way agriculture course. 3 of those men are Muslim. Each day they had devotions and time of worship. Pray these men will look at Jesus differently now and start seeking.
Testimony
I had a guest, who is a Christian from a Muslim background, at my house last week to share her powerful testimony with many of my neighbors. There were 12 people who came. Afterwards some Muslims asked questions about her journey to find Christ. Pray their curiosity leads them to Jesus as Savior.
Women outreach
Pray for the women of Ubembeni. We have started meeting weekly to teach practical skills, like carpet making etc., to our Muslim and Christian neighbors. Pray for the Christians to desire to sit with their Muslim neighbors and build friendships. Pray for the Muslims to be open to a love they’ve never experienced before and ultimately see it comes from Jesus.
Needing healing
Mzee Mjeja attended church with Jared last Sunday. The man was in need of seeing a doctor so Jared’s choir took up an offering amongst themselves to pay for him to see a doctor. Pray this act of kindness will show that those who follow Christ are internally much different than those who don’t. Pray for healing for Mzee Mjeja both physically and spiritually.
Young girl
Su* is a young girl, around age 10, who has lately been speaking a lot about Jesus. Our youngest daughter has had conversations with her about salvation and they have read scripture together. Today she told me that when she grows up and leaves her parents’ home she will become a Christian. Please pray for her that she will know exactly why she needs Jesus and that she would have the confidence to follow Him.
Joy in serving
The Kairos graduates in Kondoa have continued meeting together and have come up (all on their own) with doing two acts of kindness each month. Last month they visited Muslim homes, brought smalls gifts and prayed for them. Pray this fire in them will continue and that they will see fruit from their efforts and be encouraged. Pray for joy in serving their Rangi neighbors.
New outreach
We are going to start something new on our street to bring the Muslims and Christians together. We are partnering with two wise Christian neighbors who will start teaching Muslim neighbors practical skills to learn how to make things in order to sell for profit. We will take advantage of this time to tie in the Gospel. Please pray for women to join and for their hearts to be ready to receive and respond to the Gospel.
Christ’s love
The Kairos graduates from the last seminar have been envisioned and inspired, and last Sunday they decided to go to people’s houses to give them gifts and pray for them. Pray these acts of love will continue and many neighbors will respond to Christ’s love demonstrated to them.
Stand firm
Pray for the new believers to stand firm in their faith, walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, and share with others the good things God has done for them.
Salvation
Yusuf has accepted Jesus as his personal Savior! We will now start a discipleship process. Pray he will understand his lifestyle can now change because of Jesus and he is no longer bound to the rituals of Islam.
Saved!
Mama H has accepted Jesus as her Savior! We are meeting together to read the Bible and watch videos about walking with Jesus. Pray for strength as she faces opposition and that her faith would grow strong.
Dreams and visions
Kelly has had the opportunity to use the Bible to teach her neighbors English. After a good time reading Scripture, Kelly showed them a video of a Muslim coming to faith through visions/dreams. They were all very excited and want to meet again. Pray for dreams/visions in the lives of these people to bring them to Jesus.
Needing salvation
Jared and Mzee M have been going to a neighborhood Bible study together and Mzee enjoys it very much. He sings hymns and engages in conversation. Pray for the desire to follow Jesus in his own life.
Shara and Mama Sam started lesson 1 of a 6-lesson Bible series. Pray they will be able to continue this study and that God would use it to soften Mama S’s heart to accept her Savior.
Follow Me
Mama Hay has had a dream of Jesus calling her to follow him. Her 2 year old son has been suffering from demonic attacks. She has studied a six lesson series from creation to Christ and she wants to follow him but admits she is scared of her family. Pray for courage and strength that she will follow what Jesus has called her to do.
True Peacemaker
Muslim men from Saudi Arabia came to Kondoa to pass out meat at the mosques. One man told Gideon that instead of bringing peace among the people, they are making everyone fight. Pray this will turn people to the True Peacemaker.
Kairos
Over the next two weekends, there is a missions seminar called Kairos that will be held in Kondoa. Pray this will spur on the Christians here to reach their Rangi Muslims and to give them a better perspective of world missions and the Great Commission, that they would cross the street and cross borders for Jesus’ sake.
Reading the Bible
Mama S. has shown a willingness to read the Bible with Shara. Pray that God would continue to draw her closer to Him and that they would have deep and intentional times of Scripture studying.
Pray for the Christian women of our street, that we would continue to build each other up and pray together for a breakthrough of the Gospel amongst our neighbors.
Breakthrough
Pray for the Vijana choir that Shara is a part of. Pray they would become passionate about sharing the Gospel with their unreached neighbors.
Jared is seeing relationships with Pastors develop. Pray for unity across different denominations. Pray for a breakthrough in the disunity, judgements, and hurts of Kondoa Pastors and healing of relationships.
Seeds
Please pray for a neighbor woman, A, who I have shared the Gospel with and has been asking a few questions. Pray that God would soften her heart and that these seeds would be planted in her heart.
prayer time
We have just started to meet with the Christian mamas in our neighborhood for a time of prayer and fellowship and an encouragement to reach out to their Muslim neighbors. Please pray this time of prayer will be fruitful and that those who they invite will show up, be excited and feel encouraged to share God’s love with others.
Creation to Christ
Mama Moses and I have started a bible study with the neighbor women: Mama B, Mama Z, Mama H and Mama S. We are doing a six lesson study from creation to Christ. God is working so much! Please continue praying for these mamas as they learn more about Christ. Pray the seeds will fall on prepared soil. Things are happening and all we can do is trust God that these women will accept and follow Jesus. Mama B has privately said to me that she wants to follow Jesus. Pray that the walls of fear will be crushed.
Praise!
Mama S has accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior! She comes from a Muslim family and is married to a Catholic man. After reading the Bible and watching the Jesus film with me and a few other neighbors, the blinders were taken off and the Truth was revealed to her heart through the Holy Spirit. Pray for the upcoming discipleship process that I will be leading her through. Pray that she will gain a new family with the believers in this town.
Amos
Amos, Jared, and another man were discussing the conditions of the world, when Jared said there is a solution. Jared asked his Christian friend, Amos, what the solution was and he replied “prayer”. Jared said it is the blood of Jesus Christ because he washed our sins away. Pray for Jared and Amos to have more opportunities to discuss these important topics.
Mama S and Mama H
I have started reading the Bible 3 times a week with 3 of my Muslim neighbors. Mama S has said she believes Jesus is God. Mama H has said she needs to follow Jesus. Please pray for these meetings that knowledge would form about the Truth but more importantly that the Holy Spirit would transform their hearts and that they would turn to Jesus and follow him whole heartedly.
Mat
Mat is a Rangi believer. He and Bobby have started spending time together. Mat wants Bobby to teach him the Farming God’s Way methods and he has told Bobby he wants to learn more about the Bible and be discipled. Pray he will learn more about what the Bible says and have the desire to share with his neighbors.
Mama Sam & Mama mKubwa
Mama Sam & Mama mKubwa watched the entire Jesus film in Kirangi with Kelly. They were intrigued but at the same time uncomfortable. Pray the Holy Spirit would pierce their hearts and that Jesus would remain on their minds creating questions for Kelly.
Mama S
Mama S lives across the street from me and due to the very hot weather we have been sitting together under the shade on a mat sewing and talking about life. I had the chance to talk to her about Jesus twice. She listens and then changes the topic. Please pray for an open heart to hear the Word.
Mama H
H is a single mom with two small children. I gave her a book of John and shared Scripture with her, prayed with her and gave her a gift of food from the whole team. Since then, she has asked great questions like “Why was the veil torn when Jesus died?” She has gone to a prayer event with the Kondoa team and expressed that she has never seen this level of love before like our team has shown her. Most recently her, Mama B, and I had a discussion on the urgency to choose Jesus as Lord and Savior. Mama H said she believed that Jesus is the way to be saved. It is obvious that the Spirit is working in each of their hearts. Please pray for a radical transformation in the hearts of Mama H and Mama B, and that they would turn their lives over to Christ.
Mzee M
Jared took Mzee M to the coffee shop the other day. They talked about the Gospel and Jared realized that he has much of Genesis memorized. He recently went to the prayer event from the Kondoa team and enjoyed himself and even engaged in conversation about Scriptures. Praise God for the knowledge he has, and pray he will come to know that Jesus is the only Way to Truth.
Christmas outreach
The Kondoa TIMO team is having our first Muslim Outreach event tomorrow, Saturday the 4th. There will be a wide range of Muslims coming, some that know a lot about Jesus and some that know nothing. We will be discussing why we celebrate Christmas and it’s meaning in Jesus Christ our Lord. Pray that their eyes would be opened to see God’s glory, that through Christ God would transform many hearts to accept Christ tomorrow.
Young lady S
Young lady S is starting Form 1 (high school) soon. She lost her mother about 6 months ago, and her brother 1.5 months ago. She has been coming over to Kelly’s house to hang out. Kelly has been sharing with her about God loving and knowing her and caring for her and letting her know it’s ok to be sad and grieve because we have a God who loves us and grieves with us. Please pray she is open to the Gospel.
Listening
Mzee M was given an audio Bible when he was sick, so he could listen to the New Testament in Rangi or Swahili. He has been listening and discussing with his family and falls asleep with it playing. Praise God he has recently seen the love of Jesus through local Christian neighbors through their many acts of generosity while he has been sick.
Conversations
Mzee J and Gideon had a great conversation discussing the second coming of Jesus. Gideon saw willingness to listen to what he was saying about Jesus and the Bible. Mzee J along with a few other men sat listening to Gideon and some even said, ‘What you’re saying makes sense’. Mzee J asked for more conversations in the future to discuss Jesus. Pray for these future interactions with Gideon to be impactful and life-giving for Mzee.
Who is Jesus?
Mama S went to a Bible study with Shara. The leader spoke from James about having joy and perseverance. Shara and Mama S had a fruitful conversation about prayer and the study topics. Shara left her with the question: ‘Who is Jesus to you?’ Pray she will seek the Truth, find it and hold onto it forever.
Seek Jesus
Mama B and I have recently been discussing her struggles, as she opens up more. I have shared with her that there will be no change without Jesus. She has started to attend Christian gatherings with me. Pray that through all of this exposure to Scripture and viewing how Christians pray, she will desire to seek Jesus in her own life.
Shown interest
Please pray for my friend and neighbor Mama S. She is a Muslim. She has shown interest in going to a Bible study with me, but has yet to go. Pray she will.
Children’s Bible
Rachel and Mama F. are Muslim ladies who live across the street me. They frequently ask to read my children’s bible and on occasion ask me questions about it. Pray the Lord would speak to them in His Word.
