Struggling

Diaspora in Canada: Pray for the many colleagues I work alongside with who are really suffering and struggling with the conflict in the middle east, many who are Muslim, specifically S. and A. Pray that I could be salt and light in the interactions I have with them and that the Prince of Peace would reveal Himself to them.

Pray for understanding

Diaspora in France: Amanda appreciates very much the Scripture portions we are able to share with her in her own language. Ask for good understanding and a desire to know more. Continue to pray for her son, Billy, who is currently in prison. Pray he ponders the Truth he has heard and submits to the Lord.

Heavy burdens

Diaspora in Georgia: Praise the Lord for a Nigerian sister in a nearby mobile home park who has opened her home and invited neighbors to come for Bible study. Pray for that group to grow and especially for the immigrants who live there to come. Pray for the gospel of John and the fellowship time to greatly encourage the women who have many heavy burdens.

New neighborhood

Diaspora in Georgia: Praise the Lord for ongoing friendship and visits with Ms families. Pray for the salvation of S’s family and M’s family. Pray for an open door to minister in another new neighborhood where there are several Africans from Cameroon. Pray that my friend Cindy will open her home to host a women’s gathering. Pray for salvation to come to that neighborhood.

Healing and friendship

Diaspora in Georgia: Pray for A, an Afghan M woman I recently visited with an outreach group in Clarkston, GA, for healing from her cancer and most important, spiritual healing.
Pray that friendship would continue to develop and deepen with my friends F and Z.

More students

Diaspora in Toronto: Pray for Victor as he teaches on the book of Genesis to newer Iranian believers in order to build a good foundation. Unfortunately, very few students attend the class. Pray for their desire for the Lord not to grow cold.
Victor also plans to teach Christianity Explored to seekers coming to church in January. Pray for seekers coming to church to sign up.

Mosque-Church meeting

Diaspora in Florida: Pray for the mosque and church meeting scheduled for October 14th to discuss, “Who is Jesus?” Pray for truth to be clear.

Seeking truth

Diaspora in Minnesota: Pray for Mr. M. and Mr. H. Both are seeking the truth. May they find it and passionately follow Him.

Asking questions

Diaspora in France: Praise God for the good visit with Senegalese friends. Praise God for the husband who asked many questions and eagerly took a Bible with plans to meet again for discussion. Pray that Travis can start meeting together regularly even with their busy schedule as restaurant owners.
Praise for Travis’ French friend with a Catholic background who is asking many questions about the reality of a relationship with God. Pray for wisdom for Travis as they meet, and for the Holy Spirit to guide him to salvation.

Salvation and progress

Diaspora in Georgia: Praise the Lord for the salvation and progress in faith of several ESL students from last year. Pray for the Holy Spirit to bring the students this year to know Jesus through reading and discussing the gospel of John. Pray especially for one Ms lady, A from Sierra Leone. Pray that all the students will come regularly to class so they get the most benefit.

Bible study

Diaspora in California: Pray for a group of 5 International female students who are meeting together on campus once a week for a Bible study. Pray for fruit and for fellow student Carol who is leading them that she would have wisdom and grace.

Saturday brunch

Diaspora in France: Praise God for a few Christian and Non-Christian women coming occasionally to Mary’s Bible and Brunch on Saturday mornings. Praise for the two believers, one who seems to be growing significantly. One seeker, C. is so eager to learn and shares with her mom and another friend what she is learning. Pray for their salvation and for the growth of our two Christian friends.

Classes beginning

Diaspora in Wales: Pray for the Women’s English classes: Thank God for a good initial week of the English classes (25 ladies,10 children from 13 language groups!). Pray for the Spirit to draw many to Himself. And ask that God will provide additional Monday Crèche helpers.
Pray for the International Women’s Sewing Class: Classes began Oct 2nd. Continue to pray for the 5-minute class devotional and the discussion time that follows as we share a snack together.

Classes

Diaspora in England: Pray for the new parenting course starting the first week of October. Pray for more women to join the 4 women already signed up.
Praise God for a full English class again this year at the Somali Resource Centre and for such an enthusiastic, motivated class.
Pray for my ongoing conversations with A. about spiritual matters, particularly about the Qur’an and the Bible.

Classes starting

Diaspora in Wales: Pray for women’s English and Sewing Group classes which will restart Monday, Sept 25th.
Pray for the 5-minute spiritual object lessons in Sewing class that often leads to further discussions.
Pray that God will provide students and spiritual fruit in this new academic year.

Discern the truth

Diaspora in Minnesota: Continue to pray for Mr. M who we have had deep discussions with regarding the cost of following Jesus in his community. Pray that he might discern the truth.

Share

Diaspora in Brazil: Pray as we mentor a local Moroccan believer, J. Pray that J would catch the vision to share his faith with others in his family and with his friends.

Become followers of Jesus

Diaspora in Hong Kong: Pray for Muslims Ms. L, Mr. C, Mama I, S, and F and their families to understand God’s truth. Pray that barriers between them and faith will be removed. Pray that they become followers of Jesus in God’s timing.

Reflect

Amanda’s son Billy was arrested towards the end of August and is now in prison. We are not sure of the exact charges but Amanda is relieved that he is no longer on the streets. There have been numerous drug and gang-related shootings of late and she feels he is now in a secure place. Pray that this latest incarceration will cause him to reflect on his lifestyle. Pray for Amanda too as we share with her from the Bible – she likes hearing things in her own language.

Student outreach

Diaspora in Florida: We are really praying for North Africans who want to study the WORD this year- please pray with us.
Pray for an outreach with international students September 16th. Pray for new Muslim connections.

Outreach

Diaspora in Brazil: Pray for the international student ministry at the university which has a large population of African students. Pray for strategic meetings.
Pray for the courses we are offering for the diaspora in our city that they will be well attended and people will be open to the gospel.
Pray for wisdom and direction for the believing women who meet here on the second Monday of each month.

May many come

Diaspora in Georgia: Please pray that the Lord will bring immigrants who are hungry for Jesus to these Bible studies, and that this year they will believe in Him:

Good soil

Diaspora in Canada: Pray for V as he teaches the book of Genesis to newer Iranian believers. Unfortunately, they are having trouble committing to attend because of hectic work schedules and/or inconveniences. Pray that these seeds that are sprouting will not grow on rocky soil or among thorns, but on good fertile ground to produce fruit.
Pray as V also plans to teach Christianity Explored to seekers coming to church. Pray for students and for wisdom.
Pray that the Lord would convict non-believer’s hearts through street evangelism, and that people would be open to have logical conversations about faith.

Darkness

Diaspora in Brazil: Pray especially for spiritual discussions with an Egyptian single mom, M. Pray for the ability to communicate well despite language barriers, and for the darkness of Islam to be rolled back in the lives of M and her 3 children, as well as her Egyptian parents who have come to live with her.

Grace to believe

Diaspora in France: Pray for the ‘Saturday Bible and Brunch’ Mary is hosting with some Christian and non-Christian ladies going through the main parts of John. Pray for grace to believe.

Ladies’ Bible study

Diaspora in California: Pray for Carol, an Indian Christian student who is organizing a ladies’ Bible study on campus for interested international students Friday mornings. Pray for nothing to hinder participation and that there would be fruit.

Who is Jesus

Diaspora in Florida: Pray for a meeting between a church and a mosque happening in September to discuss, “Who is Jesus”. Pray for a clear presentation of the truth. Pray for open hearts.

Good gospel conversations

Diaspora in Washington: Pray for the English classes that begin this month. Pray for good gospel conversations after the daily Bible lessons and for great relationships to be built that lead to gospel proclamations across the nations in the name of Jesus.
Pray for our friend, S, to choose to make time for discipleship and regular fellowship with a body of believers.

Jesus be real to her

Diaspora in Canada: Pray for one friend who is facing deportation and is very concerned for her safety. Pray for us to be a comfort to her and for Jesus to become real to her.

International Friends gathering

Diaspora in Georgia: Pray for our International Friends Gathering on Monday. Pray that many will come looking for friendship and open to learn about Jesus.

Picnic

Diaspora in Michigan: Praise God for the many gospel oriented conversations that are happening, pray the Word of God grows into faith in Christ in many hearts.
Pray for our picnic on Sunday 8/27. We are expecting 40-60 families to come join us. May God use this time together to deepen relationships and open opportunities for gospel conversations that would continue.

Come along side

Diaspora in France: Praise God for the deep discussions we’ve had with various friends when they have visited us at home.
Pray for wisdom with one Iranian friend who is seriously struggling in her faith and believes God doesn’t love her anymore because of the hardships she’s experiencing. Pray for her heart and for us as we come alongside her.

Meal

Diaspora in Florida: Praise my friendship with a young Muslim man “Larry” continues to grow in love and in truth. Pray that God would pierce Larry’s darkness of mind and heart with the light of the gospel.
Pray for the Aug 19 meal with Baptist Church and Islamic Center. The imam will talk for 15 minutes about Jesus in the Quran and the pastor will talk for 15 minutes about Jesus in the Bible. This was the imam’s idea!

Pray many will believe

Diaspora in Georgia: Pray for many immigrants in our ESL classes to believe the gospel and come to Christ this year.
Pray for a discovery Bible study at the Pregnancy Center to be well-attended by immigrants, even some Muslims who would not be afraid to participate in a group setting.
Pray for a Bible study in the home of an African Christian who wants her neighbors in the mobile home park to know the Lord.
Pray for an international Bible study in my home this fall to be well attended and to help new believers grow.

Neighborhood trauma

Diaspora in Toronto: Pray for our neighbourhood traumatized from gunshots in the apartment complex where most of our friends live while our bike clinic was operating, then machine gun fire a block from our home; murder suspect wounded by police. Pray that our home will indeed continue to be the House of Peace and Reconciliation (“Guriga Nabaddda iyo dib u Heshiisiinta”). Pray for more openness to our message of peace in Jesus.

Growing

Diaspora in Washington DC: We praise God for the faithful way he continues to deepen relationships with friends like at our recent July 4 Picnic! Thank you for praying with us!
Praise God for summer Grow English at the park. Pray with us for our volunteers and students who have faithfully participated and continue to learn about the love of Jesus while they grow their English. Pray for many gospel conversations.

Spiritual discussions

Diaspora in Wales: Praise that the final day activities for this past term went well focusing on the theme of God’s love (English class) and the reason Abram was asked to sacrifice his son (Sewing class). Earlier this year, one lady who attends English and Sewing classes as an asylum-seeker from a Muslim country was baptised at a local church.
Pray for for good spiritual discussions as team members visit with ladies at a joint English class and Sewing group picnic on Aug 7th.

9 year old

Diaspora in Spain: Continue to pray for the 9 year old Saharawi boy that I am hosting for the summer from the refugee camps. Pray the Lord would work in his heart and the hearts of his family members so they might one day know Him!

Listen

Diaspora in Minnesota: Pray for Mr. H, that he will understand the difference between Christianity and Islam, and see the beauty and holiness of Jesus.
Pray for our Listen event on Aug. 5, a public event which I am hosting. We hope to have about 150 people attending. Pray people will listen well and be intrigued.

Outreach this weekend

Diaspora in England: Continue to pray for the East Midlands outreach which runs until August 6th.
Give thanks that the first day of community events was well attended and God gave opportunities for team members to share the Good News.
Pray for good weather for Saturday the 5th when we have an outdoor event planned in a local park. Pray for many to come with open hearts for friendship and good news.
