Diaspora in Brazil

Pray for the B. family as they visit the city of Caxias do Sul in February so that we can prepare the last details of partnerships and they can start their assignment there in March.
Pray that God will help us to advance in the relationships that we already have with our African friends and we can start making new disciples of Christ among them.
Pray that the Brazilian church and its members will know how to welcome the refugees and the immigrants as Jesus welcomed us, without fear, but with generosity and love.

Diaspora in USA

Pray for RAISE, a non-profit organization in Noel Missouri, to find a building to base its services for refugees. There’s a vacant grocery store building that would serve well but the asking price is too high.
Pray for wisdom in coming along side members who are in need of support and encouragement.
Pray for our (slowly) growing relationship with Mo from Noel.

Diaspora in Portland

Pray for the ministry in Portland through our friendship center. M & J particularly, have never had such intense opportunities AND opposition, all at the same time—there is definitely stuff going on behind the scenes! (even spiritually)
Remember our prayer request for the Iranian ESL student who is very ill with cancer? My Christian Iranian friend and I have set up three appointments with this student and his wife—and a medical emergency has stopped us each time. Finally, last week, MC and another Christian Iranian met with him, prayed, and shared the Gospel again. But he was still not ready. We are sad, but while he still has breath, we pray for a change of heart.

We have set a date for our first trauma healing group. It will be February 21-23. Please pray for the preparations and that each individual who comes will find healing in the Son.

Praise for continued progress, good discussions and times of fellowship through our Al Massira introductory Bible study with an Algerian couple, Ri (believer) and Fa (still Muslim). After spending the last several months in the Old Testament we finally arrived at the birth of Jesus.
February 15 we are hosting a “Winter Carnival” for the families of Impact Kids (our kids drop-in program), their friends, and the community. Pray that all the planning and details go smoothly and that many people would sign up to come. Pray that this event would deepen our and the local church’s presence in the community and that those who come would feel the love of Christ through the Christian volunteers who will be running the event. Please also pray that through this event, many would sign up for our ESL courses and Kids drop-in program, through which we have the opportunity to deepen friendships and share the gospel.
Please pray for Ab H, an Algerian Berber, who is a devout Muslim. This week we discussed the gospel for four hours together. Please pray that the Holy Spirit would open his eyes to the truth!

Praise for a living nativity outdoor drama that told the story of Jesus (birth through ascension) to 100+ ESL students. Pray for lasting fruit!

Chaos in Canada

Please pray for unity and peace and for God to help us be true agents of shalom in our sadly divided community. A recent city initiative to expand services in our community has led to enough infighting among local agencies (some from our favorite people group) that the city is considering abandoning the project. The young men of our community have been involved in multiple shootings in the last few weeks.
Please pray for us to be effective channels of Jesus’ shalom here. Pray for wisdom and guidance in every conversation we have.

Pray the seed fall on good soil

H sends her two daughters (8 and 6) to Impact Kids. Please pray that God would give her peace to continue to send her children.
Pray for K: please pray for her as she digests the gospel and more of the Word. May she come to know Him. She is also very stressed, along with all the Algerians we know, at the outcome of the (corrupt) election and protests that are going on today. Please pray that she would experience peace and attribute that to K’s prayers in Jesus’ name.
Pray for ESL: Please pray for the other students (Algerian + 1 Tunisian) who came to G&KB’s Christmas party (Y., A., L., K., W., A. and S.) and read the word and heard the gospel. Please pray that this taste of Truth would create a hunger for more.

Diaspora in Canada

Pray for W: This is the Algerian woman who wanted to debate with me for most of the evening during the Christmas dinner and over e-mail since. She has written pages and pages of accusations of Bible corruption. My one praise in this is that we are discussing Scripture, even though she seems to be just repeating things she has heard from people such as Ahmad Deedat; although she claims it is from her own reading. Please pray that the word of God would pierce her and convict her.

7 of G & KB’s Muslim friends joined them for an evening of good food, Bible reading and gospel sharing at their family Christmas dinner. Lots of conversations have continued from this, and they look forward to more in the new year.
God continues to bring the kids to the children’s drop- in program every month. After Impact Kids on Saturday, one Muslim father gave them $20 dollars to support the program!
The Al Massira study has continued with R (a believer) and his wife, F, (still Muslim). They studied the story of Noah last weekend. F continues to think and answer thoughtfully and openly as we read the word together. They have gone through four studies together now.

Please pray for these gospel opportunities.

Meeting with pastors and imams

We have lunch next Saturday, (Jan 11th) with local pastors and imams. We had a similar event a couple of years ago which was very much appreciated by all parties. This is usually a time to break down barriers and build relationships. Please pray for good conversations and for much wisdom and guidance from our Lord.

Diaspora in Portland

Thank you so much for praying! The Gospel was shared very clearly in Arabic and English at our Christmas event (Dec 20) and the people at our table were mesmerized with hearing and understanding–for the first time–the whole Gospel!
An Iraqi lady leaned close to me and asked . . .”If Jesus paid the full price. . . What motivates you as Christians to do good?” I was able to share with her how it is our great love and deep respect for God and for the debt that He paid for us. . . that motivates us to please Him. . .
She answered that for the first time in her life she completely understands why it is good news. .

Praise for renewed contact with some of my island friends; pray for clear opportunities to share again the hope of Christmas and the Spirit to open hearts to Himself.

Pray for the December 1, 8, 15, 22 “Storying” of God’s Story of coming to earth at Salem’s International Prayer Gathering. For these 4 weeks, RH teams up with a young man from Sudan (Arabic), and a gal from Rwanda (Swahili) to share God’s gift of Jesus for the “nations”.
Pray for those who come to the Salem prayer gathering who do not have a personal faith in Jesus the Messiah. Pray that we will share clearly and that those who hear will find life.

Diaspora in Detroit

Tomorrow, December 7, we have invited around 25 Arab families to join us, and many volunteers from area churches are working hard to prepare for a really great afternoon. Please pray that the invited families will be able to come and hear the Good News of Christmas and enjoy a wonderful time of fellowship with believers. Details are still coming together for the various kids programs for this event and many volunteers are still needed to accommodate all the children we are expecting. Please pray that the Lord will provide and that He will meet with us and reveal Himself to these families.

Diaspora in Canada

Praise: We had a great first Al Massira study with R&F, an Algerian couple that
moved to Montreal a year ago. He gave his life to Christ in Algeria but she has been too afraid
(of family and relatives) to look into Christianity. She really enjoyed the introductory study last
night. Their son (S.) goes to our monthly gym afternoons.
Praise: God is blessing on our ESL and kids programs- adults are mingling with Christians and God is bringing up good gospel opportunities. Muslim parents are willingly sending their kids to learn English AND the Bible.
Pray for wisdom as we plan our Christmas event for our ESL students and for deepening
relationships with the kids and their families at our kids sports drop-in.

Diaspora in UK

Leicester is one of the most ethnically diverse cities in the UK and recently it became the first
city in the UK other than London where the ethnic minority population is thought to have
passed the 50 % threshold. Among the ethnic mix in the city are large groups from North Africa
and the Horn. Our organization has been approached by a church situated on the edge of an
Estate where around 3,000 Somali people are living, asking for assistance as they seek to reach out to their neighbors. Please pray that God will raise up workers for this ripe Harvest field. Ask God to go before and prepare many open hearts.
