Open doors and Strongholds

Please pray for the team to know the right time to reach a village named Makiria about 10 miles from Nagishot to encourage the only believer there named Lino and to train him for outreach there. Several attempts to do this have been thwarted.
2. Please pray for the Nagishot fellowship leader, Lokulang, who is travelling between Nagishot & Chukudum every week where his wife Nadodo has been sick for several months & hasn’t seen much improvement. Pray for her healing.
3. Please pray for more team members for Nagishot, a couple or two singles.
4. Pray against the stronghold that alcohol has over the people in these hills.

Light of Life

Please pray for our S. Asian friends to come to Jesus, that they may no longer walk in darkness, but have the light of eternal life. Pray for them to feel how great is the darkness, both within and without, and that they will long to see. Pray they will ask questions of their Christian friends that reveal this longing.

Persecuted brother

Pray for B, a young man who has been a believer for around a year now. B has been bold in sharing his faith and though this has brought him persecution, it has also led to a community of over 50 believers beginning to gather to study the word together. The Lord has used B to pray for and bring healing to several other people, including his uncle who had previously persecuted him (the uncle now also claims faith in Jesus). Last week B’s father declared his intent to kill him. He nearly did.
B was able to escape from being held captive and tortured, and is now in a secret safe location.
Please pray for physical and mental healing for B. Pray for a safe place and sympathetic doctors where he can get some medical care. Pray for continued protection as B’s father thinks that he is now dead and will likely seek to finish the job if he hears that B is still alive. Pray for the young community of believers that has been studying with B – their own faith and convictions will no doubt be challenged after hearing the news of what B has recently endured.

Increasingly Dissatisfied

Please pray that God would cause our Nyamwezi friends to be increasingly dissatisfied with their current faith and search for the truth in Jesus Christ.

Communal Reading of the Scriptures

Pray for a group of over 20 adults and children who will meet together for a retreat and will read aloud 46 chapters of the Bible (Luke and John) in the next five days. Pray that they will find the Word sweet and exciting to hear. Pray for extraordinary understanding of the Scriptures and that the Spirit will speak individually to them through the Word. Pray for much joy and expressions of love and affection to one another. Pray that the kids as well as the adults will be blessed. Pray for safety and health and protection from the evil one. Pray that the Lord will use this gathering to unleash the power of the Spirit for effective bold evangelism and multiplication of Somali believers and churches.

Bondage

An ongoing problem in the Suri (Kacipo-Balesi) communities is alcohol. Just recently Barduni visited the Suri community in Koi (Ethiopia). He was very sad to see how many of his people suffered from alcohol addiction. He spoke with the chief administrator of Koi about the issue. There is a lot of idleness and hopelessness in the Suri communities. During the last few years the modern world has pressed into their traditional world. Unfortunately the Suri have not benefit much from it yet. Rather it has shaken their foundation. Barduni is convinced that unless his people put their trust in Jesus Christ, his people group will not master the future. Therefore pray that the people will get a new foundation and new hope in Jesus Christ. We long to see a church started in Koi. May God give a breakthrough in this place which is in bondage to Satan- the highest and widely feared spiritual Chief (magician) of the Suri lives on one of the hills near Koi.

Training Desired

Please pray for an evangelist and his wife to receive perseverance and patience to do the work of the Lord among the Rangi. Praise the Lord for a young girl who received Christ, Veronica. She wants to train as a nursery school teacher. Pray also for the evangelist’s wife to receive more training, and also a girl who wants to be able to go to high school named Bijahilina. Pray for the Lord to supply all these students need and allow them to study for his glory, as they long to do. Pray for the gospel to spread among the Rangi people and for a reproducing, indigenous, Christ-centered church to be growing among them.

Prayer For Unity In Sandawe Churches, and Gospel Outreach

Please pray for the unity of the Spirit and bond of peace among the
leadership of the churches of Kwa Mtoro. Ask the Lord to galvanize the
believers in the Motto church, that they would hunger and thirst for
righteousness and would sanctify Christ as Lord in their hearts. Pray
for the Lord to make connections between the Motto church and Mangasta
village. Pray that the Motto believers would burn with a joy and a
boldness to share the gospel with their neighbors, always being ready to
give an answer for the hope they have in Jesus.

May God go before

Pray that the power of God will change the hearts of people who are hard like a stone.
Pray for strength as we visit different homes. Pray that God will prepare the hearts of people before we meet with them.
Pray God’s direction for the best location for 3 new workers who also want to reach the Fulani.

Local church partnership

Please pray for the local church, that Jesus would strengthen and encourage his body. May there be unity in reaching out to the community with the love of Christ.

Update on Sally-Praise!

Good news! Sally is still alive and well!
The day before yesterday 32 people came to listen to Sally’s story, watch the Jesus film in its entirety, and also experienced Jesus’s love and power as Sally prayed over a 20 year old lady who was possessed by demons. Praise the Lord the lady is free from bondage and 10 women told Sally they will follow Jesus!
So yesterday ended up not being the day of Sally’s execution but the day God chose to bring 10 more people into His Kingdom!
Unstoppable, mighty to save, healer of the sick and possessed is the God we serve!

Update on Sally- Pray!

We have prayed for Sally, an outspoken believer being watched by the religious authorities. She has been threatened with death. Today, November 14 is the execution date for Sally, but there continues to be silence from the religious men. Rejoice that it seems God has seen fit to stop this wicked scheme.
Last Sunday, Sally was called and invited to speak to a group of ladies during their usual teaching hour. She was allowed to speak openly about her faith and all that God has done! Not one lady became angry or chased her out! This week a couple of the ladies from the group sought her out for more information. They are truly seeking the Way!

Church planting

Pray for the multiplication of churches. The materials for a shelter of one church are on the ground and waiting for a fundi to complete the construction. Pray for Joseph as he oversees the work there. Also for Joseph’s support.
Pray for Daniel who has finished his training in Lodwar, seeking the Lord’s direction for the future.

2 church dedications

We are so grateful for the dedication of two church buildings in Hurri Hills. The dedication was full of praise, joyful songs, testimonies, powerful prayer and a motivational sermon for living Christlike and being a church that goes out and reaches the community!
We praise God for His faithfulness. The dedication of these churches represents a new beginning of ministry as well. Please pray that as we continue to do ministry as the body of Christ many people will be listening, learning about the word of God and converting their ways and hearts to Jesus as their Savior and Lord.

Translation project

The Suri (Kacipo-Balesi) New Testament Translation project is advancing. As you might know, the gospels of Mark and Matthew have been drafted. During the last few months the translation team has been busy drafting the gospel of Luke. We have drafts of chapters 1 to 16. Continue to pray for the team. They suffer sometimes from illness. Just now, Barduni has strong chest pains and a severe cough. Pray for his healing. Pray for the financial situation of the translation project, since the finances are not secured yet. Pray for the translation team to be lifted up by the Word of God which they translate. May they get daily wisdom and motivation for their work. Pray also for their families and relatives- that their hearts will be opened for a new life with Jesus. Pray also that the next advisor check workshop, where the drafts will be thoroughly checked, can take place soon.

Outreach in Kapoeta

John is a Kenya missionary working amongst the Toposa. Pray for evangelism and outreach in Kokoro, Lopua, Napeicheke and Kapoeta East. Also pray for the listening groups that were trained on using audio Bibles. A Youth camp is coming up on December 9th. Ask  God to draw many youth to Himself.

prayer for unity

Ask for unity as a handful of people gather. Some want to bring friends that haven’t yet believed and others are afraid. May there be respect and submission and love.

Diaspora in Wisconsin

Pray that someone in the church community would offer to help a student nurse from the
Diaspora community who needs help with her English conversation. Ask God to open her heart to Him.
Nov. 17 a team from NW Ohio will come to our town to do prayer walking, tea shop ministry, etc to
engage with the diaspora community. Pray for those who are coming to have hearts filled with
the Spirit and pray for the diaspora community as they meet people from this team to have open hearts to listen to their witness.

small number of believers

Tuareg believers in Niger are small in number and scattered in a vast country.
Pray that the Lord will protect them and that they may be an encouragement to each other and have the courage to witness.
Pray for new opportunities to spread the good news

Diaspora in Philadelphia

Pray for our international Thanksgiving Dinner on November 12th. We will share the Gospel to a
crowd of 200 ESL students and families. Pray for ears that hear and hearts to believe!
We are sharing the love of Christ with Algerian and Sudanese friends as we visit folks in their homes. Pray for God to draw these friends to Himself. And pray for an Algerian woman who wants to compare the Word with the Quran with CF.

A Spirit-Movement

Pray for a movement of the Holy Spirit among S. Asians. May He turn their hearts of stone into hearts of flesh, and compel them to come in out of the highways and byways into Jesus’ feast. May they grow sick of the dry crusts of their religions and come instead to the Bread of Life.

New disciples

Pray for the family and 3 children we are now hosting. They are new believers and we are discipling and mentoring them. Pray they will grow to the full knowledge of God.
Pray also for S to be bold and not fear. He has come close to entering the Kingdom and we are sharing with him.

Prayer for Mangasta

Let’s continue to pray for open doors in Mangasta. ‘Lord, would you not let the leaders in the other churches become discouraged or complacent because of the barriers that have come up in efforts to reach Mangasta. Would you bring healing and restoration to the family that wants to move to Mangasta to be a witness in that village. LORD, we ask you to remove the barriers and make a way for your light to shine in Mangasta. We ask these things for your glory and for your Name.’

Dorobo Students Learning New Skills

Pray for Pastor Jonathan Nangari and Pastor Jackson Ng’ayami as they work out how to start a community-based organization for the Dorobo, with the goal of starting a polytechnic for the Dorobo school leavers from that area. Pray for wisdom for these men.

Deeper transformation

We long for our relationships with our local friends, neighbours and colleagues on the French island to grow and blossom. Pray that people would not only be willing, but eager to hear the Good News and would accept the Truth. Pray for one worker C who will visit and stay with his former neighbours and landlords. Ask for language ability after 6 months away and for fruitful conversations.

A Husband Under Great Stress

Our neighbor & Muslim Background Believer came out publicly as a Christian at the beginning of this year. Her husband’s family & neighbors have done all they can to get him to leave her. He has stuck it out, but he can’t live with the shame of the vicious rumors spread about her character. He is on the verge of divorcing her. We counselled with them for almost 3 hours last night – sharing God’s Word about marriage. He seemed to be willing to keep trying to stick it out for the love of her & their kids, but wouldn’t give a clear answer. Please pray for God to preserve & protect their marriage & family. Pray for the salvation of all their family for Jesus’ Name’s sake and their great joy!

Caring for A Grieving Family

We have just lost a Rendille pastor, who was a sign language Bible translator. He was so loved and respected in the community and many are mourning the loss. The biggest prayer request is for his wife and his 3 small boys. The Rendille want to come alongside of this family, support them, and love them but they aren’t sure how to best go about doing it. We are praying God uses this experience to open our eyes to how to care for people in grief, and that God would draw more people to Himself.

Diaspora in Florida

It’s the celebration we’ve been waiting and praying for: the first wedding between Kutchi believers. DM left Nov 3 for India to join this time of joy. This is the new generation of believers coming up. Then, after the wedding, DM will teach our group of 60 field workers in a 2-day training.
These 2 events are reminders of the awesome things God has done among the Kutchi. When D&J investigated the land of Kutchi for the first time in December of 1998 there were no full-time workers, no house churches, no radio gospel programs, and no Scripture in the Kutchi language. Now there are all of these and much more! Praise God with us.

Carlo

Pray for Carlo, a Laarim young man that is helping Ard every Monday with leading a bible study group. He is growing in faith and in leadership. Pray that God will continue working in Carlo and that he will have the desire to start a new bible study group in one of the Laarim homes.

Lead Mike

Praise God that Mike is a strong long-standing O believer. Pray that God will lead him clearly for every step of decisions regarding becoming a Bible translator, and that he would be able to keep his family, fellowship and witness in the village with our team if he becomes a translator. His wife needs prayer to give whole hearted allegiance to Jesus. Pray that she would grow in her faith, knowledge and relationship with Jesus. Pray that she would put God first rather than continuing to try to please her Muslim family.

Man of peace

Please pray for a prominent religious leader in one area who for many years has been a “man of peace” and encouraged many to hear God’s word although he has not yet become a believer. Recently he again was excited to study God’s word and agreed with what he read. He was hungry to study more and more. He himself pinpointed the barrier within himself which is stopping him come to Christ. May God break down all barriers! May this man meet God, who is worth everything, and worth losing everything for.

Diaspora in Australia and New Zealand

There are many Africans from unreached people groups who have settled in Australia and New Zealand. Praise God for the opportunities to proclaim Him in these diaspora mission fields, and for the individual Christians and churches who continue to serve among them. Ask God to raise up more who are dedicated to sharing the gospel and discipling Africa’s unreached in Australia and New Zealand.

Portable Bible School

Just recently a team of South Sudanese from Juba have gone to Upper Boma (South Sudan) with a portable Bible school intending to help the Suri (Kacipo-Balesi) church members to better understand the Bible. They plan to stay for about two months. Pray for this time of schooling that everyone stays healthy and protected (physically and spiritually). Pray that the training will have a great impact on the students and on the entire Suri community in this region.

Handa outreach results

132 people responded to the Gospel during the Handa outreach last week! Thank you for praying. Let’s pray that every single one becomes grounded in the Word and walks in a manner worthy of the Lord. The Magomeni team was taken by surprise and very encouraged by the response. Let’s pray for good follow up and more shepherds!

Youth following Christ

Pray for Jacob as he disciples 10 youth boys that have come to Christ. Those boys are making courageous decisions to break with the Laarim culture and follow Christ, but it is also very hard to keep walking on God’s path when your family and neighbours want you to walk on the sinful path.

Built up and established

Pray for the new believers and groups to be built up and established in their faith and bold witnesses for Christ.

Challenges

There are challenges to meeting for Word studies. One lady can’t come to meetings because she fears her house will be broken into. We need to organize meetings in her house but she is afraid of the neighbors as well. Please pray for her and her neighbors.
Another one who used to come has recently moved to town and doesn’t even have a phone. Pray we can get connected with her again.

To study or to marry?

The education process and access to information has had a huge influence on the Mwani youth and their families. Premature marriage has become illegal. Some families are encouraging their boys and girls to study and to not leave school to get married. Please pray for wise strategies and deep conversations among them. The Mwani youth need desperately to learn to dream about the future and we know that is possible through Jesus Christ and the abundant life He brings.

Radio ministry

Pray that the Lord will use the radio programme to make His word heard by thousands if not millions of Tuareg people spread across West and North Africa.
Pray for provision of funds for more airtime and a trip to Niger in December.
Pray for continued access to airtime on national radio.
Pray for continued good response to the Radio programmes.
Pray for good choice of programmes to produce For broadcasting.

Lost and Found

A young man who had professed Christ has been missing. He was planning to be baptized a couple of months ago. He went missing the day he was to be baptized. Two of us ran into him 2 days ago and he said that his uncle is sick in Dar and he had to go suddenly to see him. Pray that he remains strong in his faith and that nothing would hinder him from following Jesus whole heartedly. Pray that he will want to be discipled.
