The work of God

Ask the Spirit to bring conviction of sin and a holy fear of judgement that leads to repentance. Pray during Ramadan, that as the Rangi try to please God and do good works, that God would reveal to them that “the work of God is this: to believe in the One He has sent.” John 6:29

Famous

Pray that as the Digo people have been known for their zeal for Islam, that in the future they will be famous for their zeal for Jesus Christ. Pray that during this Ramadan month He will reveal Himself to them as the powerful sovereign Savior and Lord.

Grief and Gospel

John’s grandmother passed away on Monday. Please ask the Lord to give John physical and spiritual strength and stamina as he speaks with numerous visitors all week long. May the Great Physician continue healing his body, and protect him from COVID, especially with all the extra people around who have come from various places.

When someone dies, the Suri primarily show support by coming to visit, sit with, comfort and encourage the bereaved – some for nearly a week.
Please ask the Holy Spirit to open the spiritual eyes and ears and hearts of many Suri people, to understand and receive the Good News with great joy! May the seed of the death of John’s grandmother, and opportunities to share with the mourners the reason for the hope within him, bear much lasting fruit for the Kingdom!

Prince of Peace

Please pray that the Swahili Arabs who are fasting this month will find they have no peace, that they will long for peace, and that the Prince of Peace will disclose Himself to them as their only hope.

Ambassadors for Christ

Pray that the Datooga believers will take seriously their responsibility to live as ambassadors for Christ. Pray that they will plead with their friends and family, telling them God has been reconciled to them, now they should be reconciled to God. Pray that those who have rejected Christ will soften and accept Him.

Boldly Sharing

Pray that the Borana believers will share the gospel boldly with their Muslim friends and families during the time of Ramadan. Pray that those who are trying to earn their salvation by fasting will realize there is a Savior whose salvation is free.

Gaining favor

It’s been a difficult year financially for Miles, a landlord and business owner. He feels that if he prays enough, his god will eventually bless him. Ask that as he performs his ritual prayers, Jesus would graciously reveal Himself.

This year, Hazel is fasting extra days hoping to gain more favor with her god. Ask that she would feel the futility of such works and see that Jesus has done everything we need in order to have a relationship with Him.

Slowly Creeping In

Rendille were the last Cushitic group in North Kenya to oppose the pressure to become Islamic. But through the political class this is slowly creeping in. Please pray for the Lord of Harvest to open more avenues of spreading the gospel, and to send more workers among this group of people. Pray for them to resist embracing Islam and to embrace Jesus Christ instead.

TEE

The TEE (Theological Education by Extension) group continues to meet in Lopit, and Robert has been greatly blessed by the growth he has seen in the participants. Pray that God will provide for Thomas and Clement and the other young men studying God’s Word through this program, to continue on with their studies, and for each of them to “go home to [their] family and tell them how much the Lord has done for [them], and how he has had mercy on [them]” (Mark 5:19). Pray that as they share their testimonies, the Lopit will be amazed and worship God.

Seeds to grow

AIM has had a presence in Nagishot for the last 15 years and AIM missionaries have done much to sow the seeds of the gospel. Though we are leaving this site, we trust and pray that God will cause those seeds to grow in a new season of ministry with the local church and South Sudanese believers. Join us as we continue to pray for much fruit among the Didinga.

There is a Didinga family in Narus who have a desire to serve in Nagishot. Please pray for the E-Free church and Paul and his family to discern whether God is leading them there, and if so, to trust that as they seek first God’s kingdom, He will provide everything they need.

Diaspora in Kentucky

* Praise God for growing relationships in the Somali community. Pray for those who are contacted to have soft and receptive hearts.
* Please pray for boldness and clarity in sharing the Gospel and opportunities to study the Bible with Somalis.

Diaspora in Spain

We have met a new refugee who is a Moroccan believer, former Muslim, and translator for French and Arabic. Pray that he will be able to stay in Spain long-term and work with us to reach our Muslim friends for Jesus.

Believers

Praise the Lord for His faithfulness and for the Fulani brothers and sisters who are growing in their faith and standing firm. Ask that they will continue to grow in their knowledge of JC and walk in obedience. Ask for wisdom for them and courage to share their faith during this month of fasting.
Pray for 5 new followers to come to Christ in a neighboring community where there is only one sister, who is alone to follow.

Followers!

Praise God for Laarim men who have become followers of Jesus! Pray for Logwe, Marino, Kahlifa, Paulo, Dominik and others who have professed faith in Jesus, that they would persevere in their faith, grow as Christians, and be bold witnesses in their homes and communities. Pray for these men to proclaim righteousness in the great assembly and not to seal their lips. To not hide God’s righteousness in their hearts; to speak of God’s faithfulness and salvation. May they not conceal God’s love and His truth from the great assembly (Psalm 40:9-10).

Many Challenges

We have a young friend who became disillusioned with her faith and left Isl@m.  After leaving her religion, she became an agnostic. Eventually she was led to faith in Jesus through a relative who had also left Isl@m. It has been about a year now, and she faces many challenges and still struggles with past and current circumstances that result in anger, hurt, rejection, and fear. Because she does not live nearby, it has been difficult getting together with her to encourage her during this past year of covid. We are thrilled at her decision for Christ, but her faith is not yet strong.
Please pray God’s strength will sustain her, and that the Holy Spirit will bring His truth, love, and comfort to her situation and her wounded heart! Please pray she will cling to the Lord and His Word in the midst of her troubles.

Diaspora in Canada

* Several Somali Believers are struggling with serious mental, emotional, and spiritual issues right now, exacerbated by the COVid lockdown here. Please pray for healing and peace in their lives.
* Pray that our backyard fire pit gatherings may become the beginning of a church among our diaspora friends.

Pressure

Pray for Roza. Ever since this young Sister told her family about her choice to follow Jesus, it’s been a near-constant battle as they try to bully and cajole her into recanting. Ask for protection, wisdom and boldness as she continues to share about Jesus, especially during Ramadan, when the pressure will be even greater.

Diaspora in Washington

* We praise Jesus that 2 men are still spiritually hungry and we pray that their hunger would become devotion to the Lord Jesus and they would desire to study God’s word regularly. Matthew 4:4
* We praise Jesus for connections within His family and pray that these connections lead to seekers and followers among UPGs beginning to worship and be discipled. Acts 2:42
* We rejoice in the Lord and ask for more spiritual conversations among people who have never heard of Jesus and a deeper love for Jesus and his word among the family of God. Nehemiah 1:10

Letter from prison

Our court trial has been set- we will go to court on April17th 2021. Keep us in your prayers dear brothers and sisters in Christ. Ask God to turn the court decision as He turned the position from Mordecai to Haman in the Book of Esther.
I would say, be courageous and pray without ceasing, there is nothing that can separate us from Christ, whether it is persecution or trouble or loneliness, nothing can keep us from Christ our Lord and Savior.

Diaspora in UK

A number of the refugees who I have been getting to know over the last few months are being relocated elsewhere in the country. Please pray that their transitions go well, particularly for one man who has been attending an Arabic speaking church in London. Pray that he will find a welcoming church when he arrives in a town two hours away from London.

Soul-searching

Pray for several new churches in outlying villages to grow and be strong in the Word. Pray that the believers would love for one another. Pray they may bring comfort to those who need consoling in their villages. Pray for those soul-searching, especially youth, to turn to Christ and find encouragement from being united in fellowship in these local churches.

Diaspora in Portland

* Pray for our Kurdish friend who received a Bible recently, that he and his family will continue to be open and that we can get to connect with them more.
* Some of our diaspora neighbor friends just moved across town, but are wanting to connect with us more, pray this relationship would grow and they would be open.
* Pray for A, a Believer of Muslim Background. He is in a tumultuous time and needs Jesus to be his true anchor.

Profess Jesus

Many Laarim continue to hear the Word of God but have not yet professed Jesus as Lord of their lives. Pray for Angelo, Paulo, Marino, Yaba, Naepi, Nakai, Kileng, Chief Angelo, Moyna, Mary, Chief Joseph, Locek, Daniel, Lokorai, Kayite, Lodukuo, Lokwar, Lolepi and Celestian to trust in Jesus for salvation and be transformed by the gospel.

Spiritual and Physical work

Pray for the ongoing work of discipleship by pastor Musa in Likawage. And pray for the efforts to build the team leaders’ house and set up the other member houses. Rains have started and transport is much more difficult.

Encouragingly, last Saturday, 13 new believers were baptized! Pray for their establishment in the faith.

Diaspora in Canada

Please pray for a small crew of Somali young men, all of whom have family in other countries who they are providing for and trying to protect. We invited 5 of them over on Good Friday, we did an Easter Story scavenger hunt, as well as a few other activities. Pray that they would be receptive and that the Story of Christ’s death and resurrection as well as the hope that we have in Him would touch them.

Diaspora in UK

* What looked to be a closed door last month, God has re-opened! He has provided 2 new Christian volunteers for the Homework Club in the Somali area of the city! At the request of the Community Centre director, we hope to restart this month! This is truly an amazing turn of events in response to our prayers last month. Please pray the logistics of this restart, for more volunteers, and especially for open hearts among the Somali community.
* Ask God to stir hearts during the devotional and discussion in our next online sewing time (Monday April 12th).

Classes on Zoom

Please pray for our Somali students and classes. Now that the government has issued a new directive that prohibits all in-person classes and meetings until further notice, we have had to turn to training our students on zoom.

Pray that although this is impersonal, and with no physical contact, that we will be able to convey our lessons with clarity and the students will be willing to join the digital/virtual classes. Pray for wisdom on the best way to communicate and when time permits, to get to meet each student on a one-on-one basis at our training centre.

Diaspora in California

Easter weekend we had a picnic with International Students from California State University. Pray for 9 students who heard about Jesus’ death and resurrection. Pray for many to become followers of Jesus.

Slippery Roads

Praise the Lord for Pastor Josphat Musanga showing the Jesus film at Oloolbung’aiko as part of last weekend’s Easter celebrations. Seventy people attended the film service amidst a heavy downpour. Two people prayed to receive Christ after showing the film. Continue to pray for Pastor Musanga as he shows the film around our Dorobo villages several times each weekend. Pray for safety as he negotiates steep and slippery roads on his motorcycle.

Ruhatwe

Approximately 50 people attended the Easter Sunday service in Ruhatwe. Some came from other villages where they had heard about the church in Ruhatwe and came to check it out. They clearly heard about how the resurrection is the foundation of our faith. About 15 people came up afterwards to be prayed for. Please pray that each person who attended would be drawn to the Savior and would carry that testimony to family and neighbors. And pray that the church in Ruhatwe would continue to be a light in the community there.

Diaspora in France

* Praise God that our French classes have been going well! I help with the beginner class, and I’m a language partner with a lady from the Horn. She came to my house for the first time last week, and I’m excited to continue developing this friendship and language help. Pray for the Lord to open her heart.
* My North African friend is eager to connect with a church friend of mine here, as their kids are about the same age. Please pray that God would forge deep friendships between the three of us, and that the kids would connect well.
* Please pray for my study via text with “Rose.” She’s convinced that the Son of Man is a prophet yet to come. Please pray that God would give me clarity to explain the truth, and that He would open her eyes to see Jesus for who He is.
* Pray for the French government as they debate in the Senate the new proposed law and its amendments regarding religious activity. The debates will be March 30-April 8.

Diaspora in Hong Kong

* S had a high fever and pain which might require admission to the hospital but she needed to go register at the Immigration Department first. She delayed and ended up with a serious infection, and stayed in the hospital for 11 days. Please pray for her recovery.
* J has been in Hong Kong for 11 years as an asylum seeker. Her status doesn’t allow her to work. She has been frustrated during Covid-19. Pray for J to find her true purpose in Jesus.
* Pray for the Lord to give wisdom and patience to four tutors helping African Migrant kids do homework. Pray the tutors will become friends and share the Gospel with them.

Training Leaders!

Please pray for the upcoming Indigenous Leaders Training taking place at Nassa Theological College from April 18th to May 8. Pastor Emma Shilikale has organized it, and is hoping for 65 attendees from various people groups, including Sandawe, Datooga, Alagwa, Hadzabe, and Sonjo. They plan to cover the following topics: Pentateuch, Hermenuetics, Cross Cultural Communication (Christian world view), Christian Family, OT survey, World Religion – Islam, Homiletics.

Four Evangelists

Dear Father, watch over four evangelists who are doing their evangelism among Borana in Kenya and Ethiopia until the end of this week. Father, put your word into their mouths and fill them with the Holy Spirit and open the hearts of the people who hear the gospel and accept Jesus Christ as their Savior and Lord. Father, watch over their journeys and provide for their needs and protect them from the enemy. Amen.

Desparate situation

The water situation in Jiye land is very desperate and needs urgent prayers. No rains and very high temperatures (up to 47 degrees (116F) during the day) are making the situation dire. Encouragingly, the disciples are still keeping the groups and churches going even at this hard time. Missionary Elia and two other Toposa leaders have gone to the Jiye to strengthen the believers for three months, from April 1st until June. Pray the Lord will flood this land with rains and with His Holy Spirit.

Kilwa Masoko

Please pray for Amina who came to church about 2 weeks ago for prayer. She has been coming regularly ever since. She says she is bothered by spirits in her house. Please pray that she would find freedom in Jesus, and be able to fill her hunger with His word.

Ministry continues

Luka and Umjuma are now leading the fellowship of believers who are meeting for Sunday worship in Iboni (Lopit). They are also continuing with the Discovery Bible Study groups that meet during the week. Please pray for the new believers to “flee evil desires…and pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace, along with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart” (2 Timothy 2:22). Also, please pray for healing for Luka – he has suffered a terrible skin rash since arriving in Iboni two months ago.

Year of response

“O Lord, open the blinded eyes, give life to the deadened hearts, that they may see, understand, turn and be healed by You.” May 2021 be the year of response, and a movement of people coming to know Jesus as Savior!

Ramadan

Pray for the Harvest Team- We have two young men, and our Malagasy Co-worker Petera is participating too. They are eager to learn and doing great. God is good because the Antakarana hold a lot of prejudice towards the Merina people and they are Merina. However it’s amazing how serving and showing love breaks it down. We are studying 4 fields CPM and helping the community during the rice harvest time. We have been sharing bible stories weekly as a group meeting and inviting the community. Our hope is to do it several times a week when people are gathering to break fast in the evenings during Ramadan.
Pray that these young men will be a testimony in word and deed. Pray for the Antakarana as they seek God during the time of fasting.

Ruhatwe

3 new people attended a service on Good Friday: Mohammed had met some believers in another town who prayed for him and then directed him to look up a church when he got home, so he came to the only one in town.
Salma needed prayer for some physical issues but also prayed a prayer of repentance.
Shigela is a neighbor to the church building and was initially against its presence. But today was prayed for that he would grow in his faith as he has chosen the path of Jesus!

All 3 were assigned another believer to walk with them in these next weeks. Please pray that all 3 would stand strong and would feel God’s presence in their lives. Also pray that the community would see how God is working in their lives.
