Diaspora in Georgia: Pray for a hike with a Senegalese friend on Saturday (January 10th) — that we would deepen in friendship and that she would start to realize there’s a difference between Islam and Christianity.
New believer
Pray for ‘Natalie’, a new believer who came to faith through a social media campaign. Pray for her to have good support from locals and expats. Ask for wisdom as she shares with her children – they attended the big Christmas gathering and seemed to really enjoy it.
New believers to gather
Pray for all the seeds that have been planted to bear fruit, and for discipling and gathering of NBs –which remains a huge challenge! Pray for God’s Holy Spirit to be poured out with power to give NBs more hunger and thirst for truth, to convict and deliver from any roots of sin, and to nourish, grow and bless them to become strong disciples of Jesus!
Life in the midst of loss
Diaspora in Wales: Praise God for the recent baptism of S who is from a closed country and attends our English classes. In September, several of us went to the funeral of her daughter-in-law who succumbed to a rare cancer. Pray for S, the first believer in her family, and for her family as they continue to grapple with life in the midst of loss.
Settling in Kenya
Pray for the Somalis being deported from the US to Kenya, that we may connect with them and show them the love of Jesus. They will most probably settle in Kenya where they have their families as well as large property investments.
Fearing the worst
Diaspora in Michigan: Pray on Jan 7 as I take a refugee woman to her appointment at homeland security. We are not quite sure the purpose of the meeting and she and her family (husband and 2 children) fear the worst.
God’s provision
Pray for God’s provision of food and more water sources. This season has been challenging and many are complaining of hunger due to farms being affected by severe drought.
Pray for all elders of Toposa community as they age, may they encounter Christ and His love.
New term
Diaspora in England: Praise God for a good spiritual discussion at the end of term in the English conversation class, and for the opportunity to dispel some common myths about what Christians believe.
Pray for the 30+ Smli women who received goody bags with Scripture calendars in Smli, that they would read the Scripture verses and want to read more of the Bible.
Pray for the start of the new term, that we’d have a good number of women at both classes and that we’d deepen our relationships with these women.
Serve with grace
Pray for all the 9 local pastors who work with us in the Bara area – they work hard to spread the good news of Jesus. Ask God to strengthen them spiritually, physically, and emotionally to be able to serve with grace and wisdom.
Met for Christmas
Diaspora in Ontario: Pray for believers Hafi*, Kevin*, Stuart* and Bob* living in Afghan!stan being discipled over the internet, now studying the book of Acts. Praise the Lord 3 of them were able to gather for a mini underground Christmas celebration. Praise the Lord they got coal to keep their families warm through sometimes subzero winter weather there. Pray for their safety going through every Tal!ban checkpoint in their cities. Pray for God to open a door for them to leave the country if He wills.
Persecution
Pray for peace and unity among the local communities.
Pray against the spirit of persecution that is still a challenge to pastors reaching out with the gospel.
Raise up leaders
A church in every village!
There is one village in particular who doesn’t really have someone equipped to lead the church, and they are asking for people to come. Please pray for someone to go, whether from oversees, a neighboring country or from within. There are also villages who don’t have a church and need one. A favorite quote I overheard was a local pastor saying, “If the Lopit have a church in every village, I can die a happy man!”
Breakthrough
Pray that 2026 would be a year of breakthrough – that many Saharawi would come to salvation and Saharawi believers would grow deeper in their faith.
Disciples under pressure
Pray for new disciples to be faithful in learning and growing in faith. Many are interested but there is so much social pressure and challenges that get in the way. Pray for fruitfulness and protection for these people.
Needing mercy
Pray for spiritual growth of the people. For believers to mature and seekers to bow their knees to King Jesus.
Pray for God’s provision in the land.
Pray for the basic needs for the people- shelter, medication, education, etc. There is so much suffering- pray for God’s mercy and provision.
Open his eyes
Pray for a young man named N., with his wife and little baby girl. He has been doing Bible studies with one of the missionaries and seems genuinely interested and engaged in learning about the Truth of God. Pray that the Lord would open his eyes, ears, and heart to receive Him.
Outreach planned
Pray for the pastors planning to engage deeper towards the Ethiopian border in the coming season. Pray for both spiritual, physical, and financial needs to be met. Also pray that they may bring many to the saving power of Jesus Christ and experience the gifts of God.
Pray for effective means of communication – there is poor network coverage and poor road networks.
Continues strong
The Be Fitia School continues strong in evangelizing and teaching children to read. This year, 200 new children began learning to read. Our Wednesday and Saturday programs are completely full, with many children coming to praise and exalt the name of Jesus Christ. Pray for them and their families to bow their knees to King Jesus!
Visitors
Local believer ‘Rachel’ is in contact with a group from West Africa. Some of them are coming to visit at the end of the month. Please pray for their preparations, travel and time here. Pray for ‘Rachel’ to have wisdom and discernment. The group have no French, only English, so pray for supernatural help with communication! Pray for the truth of God’s word to prevail.
New year plans
Pray for initiatives to engage Saharawi in the new year. May the Lord give wisdom and direction to the team and be at work preparing the hearts of many Saharawi to listen and respond to the good news.
Moving back
As situations change for South Sudanese refugees living in refugee camps, and for various other reasons we are seeing a trend of people moving back to the village. Among them are those who have come to Christ outside and want to share Him with their own people. Pray that they would be strong as they face various pressures. Pray that we as missionaries can continue the discipleship others began outside and encourage them.
Not unknown to God
The Chenoua are strong participants in the Amazigh cultural revival. Part of this preservation effort is their use of the Tifinagh script. An estimated 6,000 people speak the Chenoua language, mostly older generations. Young Chenoua increasingly speak Algerian Arabic due to urbanization and education policies.
Staying strong
We praise God that the believers in Namiteka are staying strong. May they be more and more attracted to God every day, loving and obeying Him. Please pray that the teenagers and women would persevere in their faith in the Lord Jesus, in reading the word and prayer. May they grow in knowing the Lord and His will.
Strengthening the church
This Christmas season, Eliah returned to spend Christmas with the Jiye, strengthening the believers, praying with them, and encouraging the church. Simon, who leads the Bible translation work, recently completed a community check as they translate portions of the Old Testament into the Jiye language. In addition, three Toposa disciples from Naliel traveled to encourage and strengthen the Jiye church, showing the beauty of cross-community discipleship.
We thank God for the progress among the Jiye—both in spiritual growth and tangible development. Pray for greater harvest, deeper discipleship, and the flourishing of Christ’s church in this precious people group.
Christmas greeting
I want to thank God for this Christmas greeting sent to me by a Somali friend D, who is not a believer:
“Hi,
Merry Christmas 🎄 to you brother and to your family.
I’m congratulating you on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Jesus Christ- peace be upon Him.
Please accept my sincere appreciation of your goodness. And my message about this holiday.”
Pray that God may open D’s heart to know this Jesus and understand why He was born.
Wants to be baptized
Please continue to pray for N, who is now saying he wants to be baptized. Pray he would keep pressing passionately into Jesus, and not be swayed by attacks of fear, social pressure, and threats.
Come to Jesus
Pray that many more Toposa will come to Jesus Christ during this Christmas season.
Pray for more strengthening of churches and leadership based on love, kindness and forgiveness.
Message of Christmas
Pray for all the 2.500 children and their families reached with the message of Christmas in Bara land. May God change their hearts and raise a new generation of Bara believers.
Pray for the 104 villages that during 2025 watched the Jesus Film. May the message of the gospel change their hearts.
Christmas celebrations
Pray for me, the only team member currently on the plateau, as I prepare for Christmas. I’m making popcorn and reading the Christmas story with neighbours – ask for good conversations to come from this. Due to the ongoing rift between ‘Matthew’ and ‘Harvey’ there will probably be two separate celebrations on Christmas Day. Ask for both to go well, but pray on for reconciliation.
Reactions were incredible
We showed the Jesus Film in the villages of Midongy and Befotaka and the reactions were incredible! The Bible stories became clear to many. Please pray for the new brothers and sisters in Christ that they would shine and remain firm. Following Jesus is not easy when families fear ancestral punishment, and sorcerers are not happy about more Christians.
Christmas conversations
‘The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.’ Pray with us for Jesus’s light to shine into the darkness of islanders’ hearts this Christmas. Pray that we would all have meaningful conversations about why He came, and that many of our friends would come to know the hope, peace, joy and love that only He can bring.
Breakthrough
Pray for a breakthrough in O-land this Christmas season: that hard hearts would be softened,
that NB’s would grow in understanding and faith in Jesus, that Satan’s flaming arrows would be warded off, and that many more O would receive their King, God’s perfect gift!
Survey this week
We are seeing the hand of Jesus at work. This past week we hosted several groups of youth at the Umoja Pamoja site. It is growing in recognition, and for that we praise the Lord. This week also we are surveying the village of Mtoni as a possible village location for a family to continue ministry. Please pray for this survey that the Holy Spirit would speak clearly to this family. Pray for the preaching of the Word for many of us as we share Christ with a dark world.
Freedom to meet
Pray for freedom of religion so that the local brothers and sisters can meet and fellowship freely.
Pray for growth and maturity of the local believers in the midst of persecution.
Matriarch struggling
Diaspora in Ontario: Pray for a Som Christian matriarch who is struggling with health both physically and cognitively. Please pray for healing for her and her family which has struggled with sibling rivalry, grandchildren who’ve left the faith, and others with serious illness and handicaps. Pray for us to be a blessing to them. Praise for one grandson who is seriously following Jesus, and another who has grown closer to Him over the last couple of months.
Needing healing
Pray for the many who struggle with health issues here, exacerbated by poor nutrition, lacking health education, and a poorly functioning medical system. From the neighbor who just had a miscarriage, to the acquaintance with a life-threatening condition, to the elderly lady with eyesight so bad she can barely see anything, and the scores of kids running around with ringworm and impetigo — pray that their physical needs would ultimately point them to their spiritual need for God’s salvation and healing.
Remain in the Spirit
Diaspora in Brazil: Praise God for the year, for the students we had. Praise Him for the opportunity to share Jesus with them. Praise the Lord for the lives He has touched here in Acarape through us and we pray that they remain in the Spirit.
Pray for fruit
Please pray for the continuation of the efforts already made to preach the Gospel to the K people in Diego. Pray for fruit from the training of evangelists. We trust Jesus will hear our prayers.
First testimony online
Diaspora in England: Up to now the majority of people who have responded to LightHouse video and social media posts have been male. Pray this will start to change and that we will receive more enquiries from S women. In particular pray for a good reception for our first testimonial by an S lady which LightHouse plans to have ready for posting online by the end of this month.
