Pray that the Lord would open the hearts of people hearing the gospel through street evangelism and Christmas carols through December.

Pursue community

There’s a new sister who has mainly been taught through online teaching. She recently connected face to face for the first time. Pray that she would grow and continue to pursue community in person.

Dropped off by helicopter!

Praise God for the team of Tsimihety evangelists who preach the Good News at the hospital and in the villages near and far. Sometimes they are dropped in a village by helicopter for a week. Please pray for encouragement and refreshment in their calling and that they would continue to be built up in the word of God. Pray many would believe the message they bring.

Christmas party

Diaspora in France: Tomorrow we will have a Christmas party here. It is in some ways going to be the climax of all our work this semester. We are expecting around 50 students, a vast majority from unreached people groups, and they will all step inside a church for the first time and also hear the Gospel for the first time. We have also mobilized multiple local churches so that we can work together and also mobilize workers. So please pray for us. We would really appreciate it.

Big gathering

Pray for the women’s gathering this week. They are hoping to study part of the Christmas story, as well as make plans for the big gathering on the 17th, including practicing the new Christmas praise song in local language. Pray that it would be a unifying time that would encourage the women to get excited about the holiday season and help them feel ready to share with others the story and significance of Jesus’s birth.

New pastors

Pray for new AICT pastors being moved into Usandawe, that they’d settle well into ministry. The villages of Magambua, Wairo, and Kwa Mtoro will all receive new pastors.

Importance of Christmas

Diaspora in Wales: Pray for open hearts and minds of the ladies attending the English and Sewing classes as we explain the importance of Christmas (Dec 4,5 & 11). We will have special Christmas activities on Monday, Dec 11th.

The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe.

English Club has finished watching and discussing the film adaption of “The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe. This produced great discussions about the symbolism in the film. The women were able to identify the problem of evil and its far-reaching oppression, the devastating and irreversible consequences of betrayal, and the astounding sacrifice of a ruler without any treachery to take the place of a traitor to save all. The gospel was clearly and boldly shared. Pray for fruit!

Fruit

Thank the Lord for fruit among the ladies. One seeker has put her faith in Christ and opened her house for study. Pray for her growth in the Lord.
Praise the Lord for another seeker who is almost there, pray that God will remove any fear and doubt and that she can fully put her faith in Christ.
Pray that the ladies will meet together once a week, as well as individual discipleship.

New believer!

Praise God for a new believer in the camps! May she and her believing sister be disciples who make disciples!

Ostracized

Following their conversion, many people in this West African country are ostracized, making it difficult for them to find work and feed their families. Pray that God will care for them and that they will have the faith to trust Him in difficult times.

Peace of Christ

Pray for Love’s friend, Kiote. Her husband is physically abusive and is kicking her and their children out of their home. Pray that Love would be able to share the Gospel with both Kiote and her husband, and that the whole family would receive Christ. Pray that the peace of Christ would rule their home.

Violence

Violence is currently exploding on the island. This week there has been a fight every day in lots of different villages. This morning I heard gunshots, and it wasn’t just tear gas. Pray for the protection of our brothers and sisters here. Pray that God guides the authorities in their decision-making. Pray that He reveals Himself in the midst of this darkness. May God direct our brothers to people who are thirsty for God and ready to receive His word.

Meeting together

Praise God for two local believers meeting together. Pray God will protect their times together and bless their fellowship.

“Can the people of Jesus help?”

Due to El Niño rains in Kenya, there has been significant flooding in many parts of Kenya, affecting rural communities, like ours, in particular. We are hearing from friends and neighbors that flooding has cut off road access for transportation and food. Roger has been contacted repeatedly in the last couple days by friends and leaders, sharing that it is becoming very hard and even desperate for some who are unable to obtain food. It is heart wrenching to hear the stories. People are hungry and their kids are hungry, and parents don’t have anything to give them.
The village leaders, chiefs, and elders asked Roger to participate (via WhatsApp) in a big meeting yesterday morning. Leaders have asked whether the people of Jesus can offer any help. Please pray. We are organizing a food drop by air but need funds to buy food.

Good news

Praise God for English classes starting off well. We have a level 1 and level 3 class with nearly 50 students total. This has been a good avenue for relationships, and we have had many opportunities to share the good news outside of class. Pray for open hearts to receive this news!

Mrs F

Pray for Mrs F’s family that they may accept Jesus the Saviour of the world.
Pray for good discipling relationships for Mrs F: Someone to disciple her and someone she can disciple.
Pray for her relationship with Tiffany and Koloina.

Radio programmes

We have two major radio stations based here which have Bible sharing programmes. Please pray for those who contribute to these programmes, that they may have wisdom and grace to present the gospel clearly and engagingly. Please pray for those who hear, some of whom may not have contact with other believers, that they may be impacted by what they hear.

Jesus Film

Pray for Pastor Silas Bargokwet and Pastor Josphat Musanga as they show the Jesus film in various schools and villages. Pray many would believe and be saved.

Pray for the church at AIC Tinet as they have a fund raiser for their church building in December. Pray for Pastor Vincent Langat as he leads this church.

Live according to the Way

Some of the local family recently studied the book of Titus. They were challenged by the words but also intimidated. Pray they would feel empowered to live according to the exhortations. To do good, to live according to the Way of Jesus.

English students

Classes are coming to an end this month. Students have read all the stories from Jesus’ birth to his resurrection and the Spirit’s coming. Pray that these men and women take hold of the truth. Pray for their hearts to be soft, as several students have many questions to follow up with.

Genesis translation update

Last week I finished the first round of correcting the first five chapters of Genesis in Antanala. Pray for the continuing translation work of Genesis. It is harvest time and the translator is very busy.

African Group

Diaspora in Hong Kong: Pray for another newly formed African group, consisting mainly of mothers and young children. Pray we can take advantage of the location and attract some Muslim families from the nearby kindergarten. Pray for good relationships and gospel opportunities.

Build His church

Please pray for the work among the Bara children. The children’s ministry has more than 700 children and 1/3 of them are Bara.
Pray that God would save them and build His Christ- centered indigenous church.

False accusations

There are rumors and false accusations circulating about the local Christian school.
Please pray that the school would remain strong in continuing their Christian Education classes and that Pastor Barnabas would not lose heart.
Pray also for our team that we would not fear but would continue to speak the Truth in love…and that we would have the wisdom to know when to speak and when to remain silent.

Translated Word

Pray for islanders to engage more with the translated Word. There are apps, printed books, and audio players. Pray that they would be used by both believers and seekers. One island man recently asked more than one teammate for the Word, so just this weekend he received a portion. Pray that he and others that now have the Word would read it and be transformed by it.

Christian teachers

Marlene made two trips to Lopit last month to do some literacy training with teachers from the school in Ohilang. A few other teachers from the nearby village of Imuhula walked five kilometers everyday to join the training – after having taught their classes that morning! The teachers had a lesson with Marlene in the morning, then went the next day to school and applied what they had learned, and then returned in the afternoon to discuss what they found. Thank God for teachers who are committed and have a desire to grow in their capacity to teach! Please pray for these teachers to impact the next generation in a positive way, as role models and as committed Christians.

Walls fall down.

Diaspora in Georgia: Praise the Lord for His power to make walls fall down. Pray that as the walls of Jericho fell, the Lord will break down all the walls that hold Muslim people in this area captive and that Christians from all our local churches will befriend them and share the gospel with them. Pray that there will be a great movement to Jesus Christ.

Discussions in English

English Club is diving into watching and discussing the film adaption of “The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe.” They are discussing the symbolism of the story, and it has already led to good conversation. Pray as they watch, then read the scriptures at club, God opens their eyes to Truth.

Open hearts

Pray for S, a devoted Muslim, that she may open her heart to learning more about Jesus. We are thankful that our friendship is growing.
Pray for L, who has lost motivation to read the scriptures. May the Holy Spirit strengthen her heart to seek Him.

Still difficult

Please pray for those still in difficult living conditions after losing their homes, livelihoods, and loved ones in the earthquake in Sept. Pray that seeds planted in expressions of care and the truth spoken would bear fruit and that the Father would use this devastating situation to grow His kingdom.

Promises

Diaspora in France: Wednesday is a highlight for us as we visit Alistair, Rachel and family. Having worked our way through the promises of our book to their fulfilment, we have now gone back to the beginning. Pray that as these stories become more familiar, they will see their relevance to their own hearts and acknowledge their need before God.

Church burned

Last week a church in Baraland was burned. This is the second church this year that has been burned by witchdoctors. The Gospel is spreading and the devil is not happy.
The other church had 48 people that accepted Christ after watching the Jesus Film; they built the church in the region of Ianakafy, and it was burned a while ago.
Pray for God’s encouragement and protection of believers, help to rebuild, and mercy for the witchdoctors to repent.

Pastor John

Pray for Pastor John, who will graduate from Bible school on November 24th 2023. Pray that he becomes a faithful pastor and continues to proclaim the Gospel to the Digo people as a minister of God and that God sends faithful partners who will join him in delivering God’s word to Digo tribe.

Heard the gospel!

The team went out Friday and Saturday from noon to midnight looking for people interested in talking about spiritual matters. The Father enabled them to engage with 99 people and 76 of them heard the full gospel message! Lots of them are interested in follow up conversations to discuss further. Praise the Father with us and ask that the HS would water the seeds that were planted. All glory to Him!

May they believe

There’s a couple of seeker groups meeting regularly to discuss the story of our book. Ask for open hearts and curious minds. May the Lord turn on the light of the knowledge of the Glory of God in the face of Jesus so that they may believe.

More dire every day

The situation in Sudan is becoming more dire every day. Many people have lost their lives and properties. The Darfur Christian Association (DCA) team is helping communities of people find places to stay, distributing relief and connecting civilians who are newly arrived Jebel Marra, especially those that don’t have any family members or fellow tribe members. The DCA team is also offering medical and dental care, as well as sharing the gospel of salvation, preaching the greatest hope in Christ, and offering discipleship training to groups and individuals. DCS is seeking more financial support to continue offering medical care and provide medicine.
Pray for peace in Sudan.
Pray God may provide for the needs of believers and provide healing from trauma.
Pray for the global body of Christ to continue praying and generously supporting believers.
Pray for the DCA team in Jebel Marra to continue helping the communities who have fled the cities.
Pray for funds for medicines.

Kairos course

We have finished running the Kairos course in Moroto. This is a course that shares God’s heart for the nations and how his people have the privilege of participating in what he is doing in the world. We had 14 participants and it went very well. Please pray for all who participated – that our hearts will continue to be impacted by what we heard, our minds stretched and our desire to share God’s Good News fueled by all we are heard and discussed.
